Lakeland man charged with attacking wife over possible divorce
LAKELAND, Tenn. — A Lakeland man is charged with aggravated assault after his wife said he tried to strangle her.
Investigators say the woman and Christopher Miles were arguing Saturday about possibly ending their marriage.
The woman told police they were in their bathroom when Miles grabbed her by the throat and began strangling her until she lost consciousness.
She told police she woke up and had several convulsions.
Investigators say Miles told her he would kill her if she told anyone what happened.
She said she grabbed her pillow with the intention of sleeping in another room, and she walked down the hall, she was slammed into a wall by Miles who then took her car and drove away.
The woman called police who said she did have bruising and marks consistent with the attack she described, and there was a hole in the wall where she said she was attacked.
The next day the woman called police when Miles arrived back at the home.
Police said he was taken into custody, and his wife had a black eye.
Miles is charged with aggravated assault.
