FRESNO, Calif. — Two Fresno County Sheriff’s employees were shot Saturday morning at the Fresno County Jail.
The shooting happened in the main lobby of the jail just after 8:30 a.m.
Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims told reporters Saturday that a man claiming to be visiting someone at the jail opened fire in the lobby of the jail in downtown Fresno.
A witness told KMPH she was in the bathroom at the time of the shooting. She said she barricaded herself inside the restroom. She told KMPH one female correctional officer and one male correctional officer were shot.
The two were rushed to area hospitals.
KGPE reports they are in critical condition. Sheriff Margaret Mims told the station they were unarmed.
