Neighbors react to West Memphis murder

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. -- Nasha Eldridge is trying to get used to the silence and emptiness from the house next door.

It's a far cry from what she's used to.

"There`s been a lot of arguing from the couple that lived there," she told WREG.

According to police, things boiled over at some point.

On Wednesday, someone discovered a body behind the home on Balfour Street.

Police arrested Lester Thomas and charged him with first-degree murder.

Davis, his kids and another couple live in the house.

"They`ve only been here like two months, but things have been... something just wasn`t right," said Eldridge.

"To see something like that happen right across the street, it kind of makes you wonder," she added.

Residents described the neighborhood as a safe place for children to play.

They said its not often the neighborhood gets this type of attention.

"They know who did it, so I don`t have any fear for our family or anything," said neighbor Brittany Jones. "I just feel for the family of the person no longer living. I`m sure there family is hurting right now."

Thursday, neighbors are turning their focus from crime to compassion for the person who lost their life.
