MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Memphis man is on life support after being beaten by someone who was a guest at his home.
Police said family gathered at the home to celebrate a relative's 73 birthday, but the day didn't go the way they planned.
Investigators said the homeowner, Kenneth Greer, got into a fight with his niece's boyfriend, Courtney Gray.
When he asked Gray to leave, Greer was knocked to the ground and hit his head.
Hours later, he was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency brain surgery.
Days later, neighbors are still trying to piece together what happened.
Neighbors told WREG they remember a lot of people coming to the house the day Greer was hurt but had no idea what happened.
They said he and his wife had only lived in the neighborhood for a few months and were good neighbors.
Police said Greer in now on a ventilator fighting for his life.
Gray was arrested Tuesday night and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
Gray is expected to be in court next week.
