Four people injured in North Memphis shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police are looking for suspects after an overnight shooting that injured four people.

The shooting happened just after midnight in the 700 block of Ayers Street, which is a few blocks north of Jackson Avenue.

Six people were inside the home in North Memphis last night when three men with guns walked up and opened fire.

Four of the victims ended up in the hospital.

"They just started shooting and I started running," said Dre Nelson.

"I'm just running and bullets are flying in all sorts of directions."

Nelson and Elijah Callicutt were both visibly shaken but felt lucky Thursday morning.

Nelson said he was shot in the backside.

"They had to take some x-rays and remove some fragments from my back."

Callicutt was grazed by a bullet in the arm.

"I come out here to chilling and have me a drink and I get shot at."

Nelson said above all he's thankful he wasn't more seriously hurt.

"I was praying to God the whole time. I was feeling blessed," he said.

They're asking anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
