NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Authorities have captured a man accused of trafficking a 12-year-old from Texas to Tennessee for the purposes of commercial sex.

The Texas child was reported missing a month ago, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The U.S. Marshals Service learned she was possibly in the Nashville area. Marshals, TBI agents, and local law enforcement officers located her at an extended-stay hotel in Franklin.

According to the TBI, Tavarie Anthony Williams, 36, was holding her there against her will. Agents said he took her in San Antonio after offering her a ride home but instead bringing her to Tennessee.

A TBI special agent arrested Williams Saturday. He has been charged with two counts of trafficking for a commercial sex act and is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Authorities are still investigating.

The child is in the custody of the state and will soon be taken back to Texas, according to the TBI.
