Mississippi lawmaker arrested on assault charges

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. -- A Mississippi lawmaker has been arrested on assault charges in Olive Branch.

Tony Smith showed us the bruises and abrasions on his arms.

His employee had gashes and stitches to the head after they were involved in an all out fight with Senator Chris Massey and his father Jack, who several people say were blocking a public road.

"When they finally moved he pulled up to my truck and said he owned this gd street, starting cursing us."

They walked off, but said Massey and his father came back.

"His father says 'I have my 9 here in the car.' My brother's worker got out, he's young and hot headed. The father spit on him," he added.

There were even comments made regarding race.

Fists flew and police and paramedics were called.

All the men were arrested, because police didn't know who to believe.

According to neighbors, this type of thing isn't new.

"This has been going on a long time," said one neighbor. "He tells people 'I own the road, the subdivision.'"

One man put up a sign in his anger of his issues with the Masseys.

Neighbors used the words "bully" to describe them.

When we asked Massey for his side of the story he simply said no comment.
