MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local couple were indicted on Tuesday on three counts of animal cruelty.

Tyrone and Sharon Mourning of Collierville were charged back in 2015 after neighbors reported the couple’s dogs were not being taken care of.

When officers arrived at the home in the 300 block of Taraview Road, they discovered the dogs were drinking dirty rainwater, they had no food, and the grass was nearly four-feet high.

The dogs also had visible bite marks, scars and their ribs were visible underneath their skin.

Unfortunately, two of the dogs had to be put down.

Another dog, who was pregnant, gave birth and has since been adopted along with her puppies.

A Grand Jury indicted the couple on Tuesday.

If found guilty, they could face up to 11 months 29 days behind bars and be forced to pay a fine of up to $2,500.
