HOLLYWOOD -- Oscar-winning actress Patty Duke has died.
Duke's agent confirmed her death, saying she died from sepsis stemming from a ruptured intestine.
"She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a mental health advocate and a cultural icon. She will be missed," the statement said.
Patty Duke was 69 years old.
Duke won an Oscar for The Miracle Worker and played identical twins in her own TV show.
She was also known for roles in "Valley of the Dolls," "My Sweet Charlie" and "Me, Natalie," as well as for the "The Patty Duke Show," which aired from 1963 to 1966.
She most recently starred on the Disney Channel show, Liv and Maddie late last year.
