MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Kroger on Union Avenue was scheduled to close Jan. 4, but it has already closed.

The store planned to close so construction teams can finish the massive expansion project that’s turning it into a 54,000-square-foot shopping experience.

There will be a Corkys BBQ and a Starbucks inside.

The business has to close for nine or 10 months to get the work finished. Kroger hopes to have everything finished by next fall.
