MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis City Council voted Tuesday to remove the statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest.

This was the third and final reading of the ordinance to remove the statue.

However, the issues still has to go before a State Historic Committee before anything can be moved.

Previously, council members voted to remove the remains of Forrest and his wife.

That cannot happen without permission from a Chancery Court judge.
