MEBANE, North Carolina — A company that makes fire extinguishers says its product may not work properly in an emergency.

Kidde is recalling more than 4 million of its disposable fire extinguishers because they may not fully discharge because of a faulty valve.

Even if it’s repeatedly pressed, the extinguisher could do nothing.

Recalled models were sold at stores like Home Depot and Walmart across the country from August 2013 through last November.
