“Most Wanted” couple back in Mississippi

Union County, Miss. — The couple that led authorities nationwide on a five-year manhunt is back in North Mississippi.

Federal fugitives Ramon and Janet Barreto were taken back to the Union County Jail Sunday afternoon.

The Barreto’s have been on the run for five years after leaving their daughter to stand trial for the death of their baby daughter.

Last year, they were added to the U.S. Marshal’s service most 15 wanted list.

The couple faces numerous charges including child neglect, child abuse, manslaughter and tampering with a witness.
