MEMPHIS, Tenn–Former Vanderbilt guard Kedren Johnson has decided to transfer to the University of Memphis and hopes to play immediately for the Tigers.  Johnson made the announcement on his Instagram account Wednesday morning.

Johnson, a 6-4 junior, will seek a waiver from the NCAA to play for the Tigers this season.  He has two years of eligibility left.  Johnson was suspended by Vandy, as a student, in July of 2013 for undisclosed reasons and sat out last season.

As a sophomore Johnson led Vandy in scoring at 13 points a game to go with three rebounds and three assists.

He’s a huge pickup for a young Tigers backcourt that doesn’t have one guard with a single minute of experience on the major college level.

Here’s Johnson showing off his range.
