MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An 18-year-old girl is being treated at Regional Medical Center after a freak accident in Jonesboro, Ark.

Police say Natalie Jo Eaton, an Arkansas State freshman, was impaled by a golf club shaft.

A group of students was outside the Kappa Alpha house, including two people throwing a football and using the golf club as a bat.

The club broke, and the shaft flew 30 feet, striking Eaton in the neck.

She remains in critical condition.

School counselors are meeting with students.
