MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Actress Lauren Bacall has died at the age of 89.

The model-turned-actress was born Betty Joan Perske in New York City.

She became known for her husky voice, starring in movies like To Have and Have Not and Key Largo.

She won two Tony Awards and an honorary Oscar, and was nominated for an Academy Award and three Emmy Awards.

Her co-star in To Have and Have Not was Humphrey Bogart, who would later become her husband. After his death, she was briefly engaged to Frank Sinatra before marrying Jason Robards.

Bacall had three children: Stephen and Leslie Bogart, and Sam Robards.
