HICKORY HILL, Tenn. -- A mother is behind bars, charged with attacking her husband in front of their child.
Christy Odum was arrested outside her Hickory Hill home Wednesday night.
She is charged with domestic assault and injuring her husband, Jason Odum, but some of their neighbors say the couple's 5-year-old son may be just as much a victim as his father.
Donesa Jackson was horrified to hear her neighbor was arrested for attacking her husband in front of their 5-year-old son.
"If there's a domestic dispute with kids around, to me, that should be on the back burner," she said.
Police said Jason and Christy were arguing at their home in the 4900 block of Brooksbank Cove North, when Christy took their son and went to a neighbor's house to call police.
They said Jason found the boy and said he would take him to putt-putt golf until things calmed down.
Police said while Jason and the boy were in the truck, Christy jumped in the bed, reached through the back window, and then clawed and choked Jason.
A WREG reporter tried talking to Jason Thursday, but he did not want to go on camera.
Christy told police she was trying to stop him from leaving without a car seat, because their daughter died four years ago.
Jackson said that is not an excuse, and she hopes the boy can recover from what he saw last night.
"I just pray to God that he doesn't hold it against him or her for what happened and that he learns to be a better person and do what's right as he grows older," she said.
Christy's bond was set at $1,000.
