Man convicted for sexually abusing child over three years

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 46-year-old man has been convicted of rape of a child, aggravated sexual battery and rape.

Marc Baechtle’s victim, who is now an adult, was 10 years old when he first sexually abused her in January 2001.

He continued to sexually abuse her, forcing her to perform sexual acts with him, until September 2003.

Baechtle faces a mandatory sentence of at least 25 years for rape of a child, as well as up to 12 years with no parole each for the aggravated sexual battery and rape charges.

He will be sentenced August 28.
