MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Gyasi Chisley and Jonathan Watkins are not just two well dressed men strolling the hallways of Methodist North.
They’re the new CEO and COO respectively.
“I really want to make sure people know I’m approachable and know that I’m listening,” said Chisley.
He said listening is the first step to improving the hospital and the image it has in the community, “We’ve been here for 40 years and have established ourselves as a pillar in the community. But I think we have to reintroduce what we do, and what we do well.”
As CEO and COO, Gyasi and Jonathan are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hospital.
Jonathan said they’re listening and already making improvements, “We’re going through and completely changing the look of the facility, and giving it a whole new feel.”
The rooms have been completely renovated, the hallways and work areas have been updated and more work is planned.
Not only are they improving the hospital, but they’re also looking to expand beyond the walls of the hospital to offer minor medical clinics.
Instead of having offices on a top floor, hidden away, Gyasi’s office is just steps from the community they’re working to make better, “I want people to really not recognize my position and really understand my passion.”
Gyasi and Jonathan have the education, experience, and credentials to work anywhere but they chose Memphis.
As two of the youngest executives in healthcare they see the potential more than problems in Memphis.
