MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Young girls are using makeup earlier than ever before.

The latest studies shows the average girl now starts wearing it at age 11.

Peer pressure and pop culture were identified as the top reasons why.

Therapist Dr. Katherine Blackney told us parents might want to wait to take their kids to the makeup counter.

Dr. Blackney warned parents young girls wearing makeup can sexualize them too early, and make them grow up too fast.

They tend to focus too much on their appearance.
