ST. LOUIS, MO–The St. Louis Cardinals are in third place in the National League Central Division, but had four players named to the N.L. All-Star squad on Sunday.

Catcher Yadier Molina will start behind the plate after fans voted him in.  It’s Molina’s sixth all-star selection.  He’s hitting .294 with seven homers and 30 RBI.

Third baseman Matt Carpenter was added as a reserve by Cardinals skipper Mike Matheny, who will manage the N.L. stars.  Carpenter, who will be making his second all-star appearance, is hitting .286.

Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright is part of the N.L.’s staff.  Wainwright is 11-4 with a 1.89 era.  He has three complete games this season.  This is his third all-star selection.

And it’ll be the first all-star game for Cards reliever Pat Neshek, who has appeared in 40 games with an ERA of 0.77.  Neshek has 35 strikeouts to just four walks.
