Pilot uses piece of furniture to land safely on ship

NORFOLK, Va. — The pilot of an AV-8B Harrier had to do some quick thinking when his nose landing gear malfunctioned.

Marine Corps Capt. William Mahoney had just taken off from the Norfolk, Va based USS Bataan.

Believe it or not, a piece of furniture was on the ship for just such an emergency and helped him land safely.
