Omaha, NE– Making their first appearance in the College World Series since 1972, Ole Miss was held to just one hit and lost 2-1 to Virginia on a walk-off double by the Cavaliers Mike Papi in the bottom of the ninth.

The loss drops the Rebels into the loser’s bracket in Omaha where they will face Texas Tech in an elimination game on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Auston Bousfield made the play of the game to end the seventh inning, making a tremendous over the shoulder catch in deep centerfield to keep Virginia from adding to its 1-0 lead.
