MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A strong thunderstorm included heavy rainfall and strong winds as it moved across the Mid-South.
Cross and St. Francis counties in Arkansas were under a tornado warning earlier, as was Lafayette County.
Funnel clouds were spotted in several places near Hunter and Wynne, Ark.
The storms are a part of a line that moved through the entire WREG News Channel 3 viewing area.
Early Monday evening, lightning struck the Panola County dispatch center.
Three employees were on duty, and all were checked out by paramedics. One was taken to the hospital.
The county’s EMA director said the employee taken to the hospital was on the phone when the lightning hit.
The electricity apparently traveled through the phone and burned her.
