MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A strong storm passed through the Memphis area Thursday afternoon.

More than 38,000 MLGW customers were without power as of 3:45 p.m. Call 901-544-6500 to report an outage.

There are reports of several traffic lights not working. Treat them as four-way stops.

Watch out for downed trees and power lines. Call MLGW at 901-528-4465 to report downed lines or gas leaks.

The utility company says its crews, along with eight private contractors, are assessing damage and working to restore power.

There was also a mandatory evacuation of all spectators from the FedEx St. Jude Classic due to the storm.

Play was scheduled to resume at 4:45 p.m., although the course is closed to spectators for the rest of the day.

The WREG station took two power hits and ran on a back-up generator for a short time.

In Trumann, Ark., nearly 4,500 Entergy customers are without power.

In Blytheville, Ark., more than 8,000 are without power, as are more than 500 in Marked Tree.

    My power went out 10 minutes came right back on too, thanks for the people who were out there working
