Man stabbed to death, woman detained

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A woman was detained after a man was stabbed and killed Tuesday evening.

The 50-year-old man died at an apartment complex on Whitaker Drive near Elvis Presley Boulevard.

Police were seen just around the corner at the Dodge's Chicken location on Elvis Presley, near Graceland.

Witnesses said the incident started at the chicken restaurant, and then ended at the apartments.

A man named Jason Russell told WREG the man who died was his father, Herman Tenort, and he had no idea why he was in the Whitehaven area.

Russell said police had yet to give him any information on what happened to his father, who he said was a good guy who had "mishaps" in his life.

On Wednesday, police said the woman was the victim's girlfriend. Investigators say the couple was fighting when she armed herself with a knife and stabbed him.

No charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.

This is the second incident where a woman is accused of stabbing a man this week.

A woman was charged Tuesday for the fatal Memorial Day stabbing of a 23-year-old.

Stephen Wright was stabbed to death Monday around 1:20 p.m. at 5049 Dianne.

Witnesses told WREG-TV Wright was arguing with another man over a women when a woman ran up and stabbed him in the chest.

Tequila Benton, 36, was charged with second-degree murder.
