What would you say are must see places and things to do?

I like to go to Beale Street and fight with the thugs and give money to the panhandlers. Seriously, I try to stay away from Memphis because I value my life. How many people feel comfortable about their 21 year old going clubbing on Beale? Don’t take my word for it…go to Beale about 1 am on a Fri. or Sat. night and see who owns the street. Hint: Thugs

      Sheila,
That is a very, very sad outlook to have. What exactly are you calling a “thug”? African americans? I’m saddened that people can be so ignorant to an entire place and culture. Saying that you will not go to Memphis because you, “Value your life”, is laughably unintelligent. That being said, for a city so rich in history, music, and art, I think we can do without those who choose to undervalue its allure.

Agreed 100%. I took a road trip from Maryland to Memphis with a friend visiting from Scotland. We are both huge music lovers, so I thought, why not drive to the music capital? We had the best time there. I loved everything about it and only wish we had more time to spend. Went to Nashville, and to be honest, we ran out of things to do. Memphis has a soul and history incompared to anywhere I have ever been

Number one on the list is to get out of Memphis as soon as possible, and never return for any reason.
