Michael Petrina

(Germantown, TN) The funeral for a Nashville police officer who was killed while on duty will take place Thursday in Germantown.

Michael Petrina, 25, grew up in Germantown.

He died after being hit by a motor home this past weekend.

By 8 a.m. Thursday, police will set up for traffic control around Poplar and Kimbrough Road.

Drivers should expect delays until at least 12:30 p.m. in the area around Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, which is located at 8151 Poplar.

Michael Petrina will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery, which is also located on Poplar, about five miles west of the church.

  • Wake Up

8 – 12:30 Poplar avenue… Destroy traffic flow in a whole city for a job fatality… This is ridiculous. I respect this man for doing his job but this is a slap in the face by law enforcement.

Some animals are more equal than others.

Who pays for all this? This is out of hand, he was not in the military,OH! i forgot we now have a military police force.

  • Jack

Actually he was in the military. And when your time comes, and have a thousand people that want to go to your funeral (unlikely). I’m sure your friends and family won’t be upset that you caused some traffic delays. Show some respect because you clearly did not know this fine young man.

  • Cary McGuckin

I find these comments very disrespectful. A young man just starting out really, who dedicated his
Life to protecting and serving lost his life helping a motorist. Are we really worried about traffic flow or cost? How about the cost and impact to his family?
    So sad.
God bless and rest in peace!

    • Wake Up

His family lost a moral and upright young man. Destroying the traffic flow in a city for four and a half hours does not honor him.

I think you need to Wake up. You clearly miss the point and over exaggerate the facts.
Obviously the purpose was not to disrupt traffic of “the city”
        1. germantown is not a city
        2. Stopping traffic on Poplar does not disrupt all traffic in Germantown
        3. traffic was not disrupted for 4 hours.

Yes I actually waited in the traffic that was stopped (gladly).
        Did you?

MPA is very good at publicity stunts like this.

My condolences to the young Nashville officer and his family. I doubt that he wanted to be any part of this folderol, dead or alive.
