(Pensacola, FL) Two inmates were killed and at least 100 inmates and guards were injured in an apparent gas explosion at the Escambia County Jail.

The blast was powerful enough to cause the building to partially collapse.

Approximately 600 inmates were inside at the time of the explosion.

Those who were not hurt have been moved to other facilities.

Search and rescue teams are still searching the rubble for any other victims.

The gulf coast has been inundated by heavy rain this week and the jail, like many buildings, was flooded.

It is not clear if the flooding is related to the explosion.
