(Blytheville, AR) A body found in the Mississippi River Friday may be one of two workers who disappeared when a barge overturned earlier this month.

On April 8, the workers were unloading 50,000 lb. steel coils at the Kinder Morgan facility in Hickman, Ark., when the barge capsized, tossing them into the river.

Members of the Blytheville Emergency Squad, which helped recover the body, say they believe the body belongs to one of the men.

The body was spotted just before noon by a tugboat operator and will be sent to Little Rock for an autopsy.

The person’s identity won’t be released until family is notified.
