(Arlington, TN) From running on the playground to running for cover, severe weather is no joke.
"Most safe conditions that can possibly be for our students," Gina Gore, principal at Arlington Middle School, said.
Arlington built a Tornado Safe Room to keep kids and the community safe.
"Anybody in the town can benefit from this," Mayor Mike Wissman said. "It probably started about 3 and a half years ago."
Students had their first drill on Thursday. They sat with teachers who made sure everyone was accounted for.
Fire officials said it took 8.5 minutes for students to make it from the school to the shelter.
The school hopes to cut down on the time it takes to get from point A to point B.
"We've got some things we need to tweak to make sure this is going to work for us in the event of an actual tornado," Gore said.
After all, practice makes perfect.
