(WREG-TV) Dr. Bill Novick, founder and medical director of the International Children’s Heart Foundation (ICHF) is planning a Babyheart medical mission to Kharkiv, Ukraine in May, 2014.

Following the violent clashes and protests in eastern parts of Ukraine many other NGOs are pulling out but this Memphis-based medical charity dedicated to saving the lives of children suffering from heart defects, is pressing forward.

There are children currently on the waiting list expecting surgery in May and the ICHF will fulfill its obligations to these children and their families.

The International Children’s Heart Foundation is a non-profit medical charity dedicated to providing lifesaving surgical care to children with congenital heart defects in developing countries around the world.

Since 1993, more than 7,000 children in 33 different countries have received surgical care and thousands of other children have benefited from the education and training provided to the in-country medical staff during these humanitarian trips.
