(Shelby County) Early election voting kicked off on Wednesday.

Shelby County voters are in the early stages of choosing their next round of elected leaders for the city.

Voters say it’s nice to know the feds are watching from the start this year.

“There have been problems in the past,” said Cartrell Williams of Memphis.

Voters say it’s always important to have your thoughts and opinions heard in local elections, and to make sure they are run right.

“If you have any problems you can get them out of the way. One of my friends had a problem and they told him to come back for provision voting so that’s why I come and get mine out of the way,” said Williams.

Early voting continues through May 1st.
