Explosion At Ammunition Plant Kills One, Injures Three Others

McEwen, TN (WSMV) — One person has died and three others have been injured after an explosion at a company that creates ammunition products near the Hickman-Humphreys county lines.

A Vanderbilt University Medical Center said the hospital received four victims with injuries consistent with an explosion.

One man died after arriving at the hospital. Another man remains in critical condition, while the conditions of a third man and a woman are now stable.

Fire departments from Hickman and Humphreys counties responded to Rio Ammunition, 5892 Highway 230 West, at about 3:45 p.m.

Authorities said the blast happened in the packing area for shotgun ammunition.

The ATF has agents heading to the scene to determine the cause of the explosion.
