(Memphis) Sources close to the case told WREG Monday's drive-by murder in Parkway Village area was gang-related, and the shooting is likely linked to another killing at a nearby gas station a month ago.
The drive-by killed 28-year-old Christopher Adair and injured another 23-year-old man.
No arrests have been made.
Teddy bears and flowers lie on Knight and Winchester at the spot where Adair was shot to death Monday.
It happened during evening rush hour. Kids were still playing outside.
Adair's high school classmate was there, just feet from him, as he watched his friend fall to the ground.
"He was a good person. A really good person. He just got off work," said Teire Thomas.
The sobs echoed as police tried to figure out what happened.
Investigators said Adair and a 23-year-old man were walking down the road when gunshots were fired from an old Ford Expedition.
Adair died within minutes, and the 23-year-old is expected to recover at Regional One Health.
Sources close to the case told WREG the drive-by could be connected to a gas station murder on Goodlett and Winchester on February 28 that left a a man dead and his fiancé injured.
Their 1-year-old baby was reportedly in the car, and barely missed the bullets.
"[Adair] had a baby on the way," said Thomas. "He was trying to get his life together."
Now, two children are without a father as another memorial sits off Winchester.
