(WREG-TV) Anyone who's watched Pass It On for any length of time knows we often help people who are in desperate need, and that's fine...but that's not what the segment is about.

Our main goal every Tuesday at 10 p.m. is to highlight this community's spirit of goodwill, which is why when this week's playmaker told us how she wanted to help her best friend, we couldn't say no.

This week's Pass It On starts and ends in Collierville, where we meet playmaker Desirae Andello.

Desirae and Nikki Lee have been BFFs since they were sophomores at Bartlett High School. They're now about to graduate from the U of M - Desirae as a nurse, and Nikki with a degree in English.

Desirae will also soon be Nikki's maid of honor.

Nikki is marrying Drew, a Memphis police officer.

It'll be a simple wedding, but there are still expenses.

But Desirae's desire to help Nikki goes deeper than just helping with wedding expenses.

"She also works with special needs kids. She's a behavioral technician. So she's always trying to help other people. She also works full time as well. She's a full-time student. She deserves some extra because she does nothing but work her tail off every single day."

Whether it helps buy the wedding cake or flowers, Nikki's real gift this day is one of friendship - one that now also knows the Pass It On spirit.

The wedding's in July, and there's still a lot to do between now and then. Thanks to a good friend, there's now a little help to pay for it.
