(Woodbridge, CT) A picture of a 6-month-old holding a rifle is getting a lot of attention after being posted by a gun store.
The owner, Mike Majewski told the Los Angeles Times the father of the child places the unloaded gun across his daughter when he realized how light it was.
Majewski then said, “She grabbed the rifle and put on a big smile. [The father] thought it was adorable, so he took a picture.”
The picture was shared on the store’s Facebook page and took off, causing a lot of debate.
One person said, “After everything that happened in Connecticut with Sandy Hook and everything that’s going on with the gun laws, why would you have your baby holding a gun…a big gun?”
The father suggested critics were unfairly making too much out of it. “My hand was on it… it was safety checked,” he said of the weapon.
Some think it’s extremely irresponsible of the father, others worried the gun was loaded.
But there are those who felt it was a cute, harmless picture.
The photo was eventually removed at the request of the family.
