(Houston, TX) We’ve told you about several cases nationally, and at least one locally, where a student had their hot lunch thrown away when they were short money and it was replaced with a sandwich or other item.
Now a school mentor in Texas says he is stepping forward to help pay for school lunches there
KPRC-TV reports Kenny Thompson spent about $500 of his own money to pay delinquent accounts for more than 60 students at Houston’s Valley Oaks Elementary School.
Because they were delinquent, the students were getting a cold cheese sandwich instead of a full tray of food.
Thompson told KPRC-TV he had to do something after he heard that dozens of Utah students had their lunches taken and thrown away because they had negative accounts.
