Man Found Guilty Of Killing Daughter

(Memphis) The father of a 3-month-old girl has been convicted of first-degree murder in her death.

Sebastian Pegues, 23, was found guilty of aggravated child abuse in the case involving the death of Kalissa who died June 25, 2012, from internal bleeding, cracked ribs and severe liver damage.

Pegues will be sentenced in February

The murder conviction carries an automatic sentence of life in prison, while aggravated child abuse will carry up to 25 years in prison with no parole.

The beating happened in the home in the 1000 block of South Greer near Park and Highland.

Prosecutors say doctors found evidence of long-term abuse,

The children’s mother, Teresa Pegues, also is charged with aggravated child abuse and will be handled in a separate proceeding.
