Biofuel Plant Has History Of Violations

(New Albany, MS) Clean-up is now underway at JNS Biofuels near New Albany, Miss.

This comes days after a series of explosions destroyed the plant.

Nearby residents evacuated and schools were closed Thursday as a precaution.

The ATF and State Fire Marshal’s Office are working to find out what caused the fire.

WREG also confirmed OSHA has launched an investigation into the incident.

The agency hasn’t inspected JNS before and won’t comment further until the investigation is complete.

Meanwhile, the On Your Side Investigators uncovered this EPA report which shows previous violations for the former North Mississippi Biodiesel.

We obtained a copy of the order which outlines the violations.

During a 2010 inspection, regulators with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality found the company didn’t perform proper emissions tests or inspections.

MDEQ assessed the company a $1500 fine.

A spokesperson says JNS hasn’t faced any additional enforcement action.
