Memphis, TN-UConn forward DeAndre Daniels scored 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Huskies past 17th ranked Memphis, 83-73, on Thursday.

UConn’s all-american candidate, senior guard Shabazz Napier, added 17 points and ten assists.

The Tigers allowed UConn to shoot 57 percent from the floor, 61 percent in the second half.

Michael Dixon led Memphis with 16 points off the bench.  Austin Nichols added 13 for the Tigers, who are now 12-4 overall, 3-2 in the American Athletic Conference.

The game was close throughout, but the 83-73 final score looked worse than it was because UConn hit free throws down the stretch.

I still believe it has a lot to do with coaching, again he played 4 guards
(I know to try to spend the game up), but UConn has a 7’0″ and a 6’9″ guys in the middle (match up problem on defense and rebounding). He only brought 2 guys in off the bench the whole game( oh I forgot he did put Iverson and King in the game with 14 seconds left, why). Pastner has enough guys that he can play up to 9 guys every night, but for some reason he want. I know that sometimes a team can have a bad shooting night or not rebounding like they should, but for me I just don’t see were he makes adjustments when need it one game he will do a good job and then in some games he brakes down.
