(Memphis) A wife is heartbroken after her husband of 46 years was killed while standing next to his broken-down car.

Eighty-one-year-old Eugene Divine was getting help from a Memphis officer when another car ran into them, killing Divine and injuring the officer.

"They ran over him and killed my husband," said Ardenia Divine.

Pain and emptiness fills Divine because her husband is no longer by her side.

"I was coughing, and he said he was going to run down to Walgreens and get some cough medicine," said Divine.

Police said Divine's car broke down near Methodist University Hospital near Union and Bellevue.

An officer was helping him when another car ran over the officer's foot, and then hit Divine.

The impact was so powerful, it threw him over the officer's car.

He died within minutes.

"It took a big toll on me, because me and my sister just left from seeing my granddaddy about an hour before he got killed," said Divine's granddaughter, Tyronda Williams.

Divine's family is devastated. His children and grandchildren are still numb.

"He touched so many lives around the community," said Williams.

The pain is too much for Ardenia Divine. She says life will be hard without her soulmate.

"I don't know what God has in plan for us next," she said.

Two women were in the car when it hit Divine.

No charges have been filed.

Police are still trying to figure out what caused the crash.

    STAY PRAYED UP PPL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My prayers are with the Divine family as well.

I think Shelia’s intentions were good; maybe she’s not aware that a broken down car doesn’t label an individual as a victim of poverty.

“Poverty” is new, racist code speech for explaining why things happen to black people. “Poverty really means, ignorant, lazy, stupid, ghetto, people who have bad luck in life because their lives are filled with the words listed here. And……the thought behind saying something like this is let the reader know that the victims of this tragedy deserved what happened to them because they indulge in poverty-stricken lives.

And you derived this information from what souce? Surely you meant to include the entire rainbow of color when you gave the new racist code for what happens to “rainbow” people (this does include the colors white, brown, black, tan….and the list goes on) right?

There is no justification…. in accepting the usage of the term in this matter.

The number one problem in the black community is not poverty or racism, it is sin.

Stop killing. Stop selling drugs. Stop stealing. Stop having selling s.e.x outside of marriage. Stop committing fraud and accepting government $ you don’t qualify for. Men, be faithful to your wives and provide for your family. Women, submit to your husbands and take care of your own kids.

Stop sinning and God will listen.

“So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; Yes,even though you multiply prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood.

“Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Cease to do evil,”

    Isaiah 1:15-16

Pray for me while things are going well, with you. And I will, pray for you, while things are going well, with me. And LORD, Heal the Hurt of us all. we say we LOVE the LORD. and we have never seen him, but our brother, we see everyday, we have a problem, Talking with, Helping, Loving and Understanding. You don’t have to try to save the world, that’s not our job, but we can help those, we pass from day to day. We have to be careful ,how we entertaining, ANGEL’S unaware. Memphis Tn.

@ HardTruth…the number one problem in the world is SIN! Jesus died for our sins. We were born in SIN, shaped in SIN, our desires are SINFUL! It’s UNIVERSAL! This is not a race issue; but a people issue! We all are in need of work… on and in us. WE all need the blood of JESUS! More especially, those who set themselves apart and think because they are doing what they THINK is right; they have the right to point fingers at those they THINK are not.

It is the people’s god that is killing and murdering them. Too bad the people haven’t figured this out and it has nothing to do with sin. Their gods are the biggest evilest, vilest of society preying on those that pray to them and they are the politicians, hollywood, Freemasons and more in their world. As one of the Michael men said, when it is time for the whites to rule they have no mercy on us, and when it is their time to rule they have no pity either, but they represented both sides of the killing fields.
