Duck Dynasty Star Suspended For Anti-Gay Comments

Duck Dynasty

(CNN) Phil Robertson, a star of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty,” has been suspended indefinitely after slamming gays in a magazine interview.

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty,” the network said in a statement Wednesday.

“His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

In an interview in the January issue of GQ, Robertson equates gays and sinners, and appears to compare homosexuality to bestiality.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical,” he’s quoted as saying.

Asked what, in his mind, is sinful, Robertson replied: “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

He also made comments regarding race and growing up in Louisiana before the civil rights era.

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field. … They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’ — not a word!

“Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues,” GQ quotes Robertson as saying.

“Duck Dynasty” follows a Louisiana bayou family that has “made a fortune on duck calls,” as A&E describes it.

Season 5 of is set to premiere January 15. According to A&E, its fourth season premiere in August drew nearly 12 million viewers to become the No. 1 nonfiction series telecast in cable history.

This is his opinion. I believe freedom of speech is his right. Everyone is allowed to believe anything they wish. Just because someone said what he said was wrong does not make it wrong. Not everyone believes in homosexuality. He is a Christian, and as a christian we all believe it is wrong because it is written in the bible one man for one woman, not one man for one man or one woman for one woman. I am behind him completely on this.

Anytime you are an employee of a company, you’re expected to follow the rules. You can have your beliefs, but if they contradict common employer policies, actions can and should be taken against them. Yeah he and his family have their own business. But it happens their business and some personal activities are taped for a show on the A&E network, which makes them the employer, since they pay the Robertsons money for the shows. It’s so funny so many people want to scream Freedom of Speech and thinks that absolves them from the reactions of their Free Speech.

They made their way just fine before the TV show. They’ll be just fine after it’s gone. Never compromise or settle, when it comes to your faith.

This is a shame. The comments quoted here display no malice or harmful intent, just a personal opinion which is widely held throughout the world. If this man is to be banned from television, then I guess we need to get all those televangelists banned too, because they are saying the same thing. Maybe we ought to take them all out and burn them at the stake. Why don’t you try to get Rush Limbaugh off television. Now there’s a blatant abuse of freedom of speech, committed just to fill his pockets with money.

Why doesn’t the media post the complete quote from Phil and not what they are trying to post to entice people. There was more about how Phil doesn’t hold this against anyone and doesn’t ault people. Media won’t post the whole comment because they want everyone to believe this was the full context of the quote and it wasn’t.

A&E is going to cook the golden goose? I’ll bet this will be one very short suspension after they are told to shove it.

Duck Dynasty and Phil Robertson need to leave A & E! I support Phil and his family, but who needs A & E! The only thing A& E have going for them is Duck Dynasty!
When in this country do we not have the right to stand for what is right?
The determination of right and wrong is based on morals! Why should the leftist groups in this country tell me I am wrong when I base my beliefs on the Bible. It is not an opinion if this is right or wrong, it is Bible truth!

in this interview was he representing (himself ) or (A&E ) if he was representing Phil Robertson then he should be able to give HIS own opinion anything less would be a lie and worse “side stepping” what he believes. In my own opinion this was an interview and They ( the magazine) got what they asked for. Thumbs up to Phil

PPhil is entitled to his opinion. Why does the LGBT community think they are the only ones allowed to speak? Christians and others have a voice too.

Tired of being bullied by intolerant Christaphobic hate speak from GLAAD and other LGBT organizations? This is cause for all Christians to boycott all A&E shows except Duck Dynasty until Phil is reinstated. Email A&E to let them know what you think feedbackaetv@aenetworks.com

I however want to keep my job so you won’t find me publically catorgising them with beastiality or shaming them. The big picture here is I live my life they live there life….why say such things to put a wall up. WWJD

A&E to donate a portion of proceeds from DD merchandise sales to LGBT charities – oh wait – they aren’t that outraged.

I can’t understand why people are into all this reality show nonsense any way. IT”S TERRIBLE!! I don’t even watch network TV anymore, except maybe to watch Family Guy or Conan O’Brien every once in a while. The stuff they have on right now is absolutely awful. How can people get offended by what this simple bumpkin had to say? I mean they put someone on the air who is a buffoon to “entertain” people, then get upset that he said something buffoonish? REALLY?

im sick that NBC (the parent company) has ruined what used to be educational television where you could turn to get away from fake reality shows and jerry springer rejects, and im tired of seeing those idiots faces plastered on every piece of junk they can get a buck, you have freedom of speech just, be prepared to face any backlash it might cause,
