(Memphis) People in one East Memphis neighborhood are spreading the word about a recent increase in burglaries in the area.

"If I was a burglar, that's a burglar's dream," said Chesley Karlgood, who lives along Mason where some of the break-ins have happened.

News Channel 3 checked and in a mile radius around White Station Middle School, there have been 15 burglaries in the past two months. That's up from two in the same area over the summer months.

"They stole his washing machine and his dishwasher," said Karlgood, referring to his neighbors home that was broken into.

The neighborhood is known for top notch education and neighbor say they are working hard to ensure it stays that way.

"Keep an eye out, neighborhood watch type of thing and talk to neighbors more," said Charlie Carrington that lives in the neighborhood.
