(Memphis) A local organization took steps to raise awareness about human trafficking in the mid-south.
Saturday, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority held a special forum on human trafficking.
Guests included local political leaders and members of the law enforcement community.
The goal of the community wide effort was to shine a light on a big issue that affects both children and adults in Shelby County.
“We just want the community to be aware and everybody do your part because if you’re not doing your part, you are part of the problem,” said AKA Programs Chairman, Cynthia Bryant Welch.
If you are involved or know someone who is involved in a dangerous human trafficking situation, you can call 1-888-373-7888.
That hotline works anywhere in the country.
