(Jackson, MS) After a five month recess, the civil trial of former Southaven Mayor Greg Davis resumed Wednesday.

Both sides rested their cases late Wednesday afternoon.

The state has until December 18 to tell the court what it is owed and why.

Davis has until January 20, 2014 to tell the court why he owes nothing.

The judge will rule in 2014.

Mississippi Auditor Stacey Pickering alleges Davis still owes $70,000 to the state for expenses Davis was reimbursed when he was mayor.

Davis has already paid back $96,000 of the $170,000 he was ordered to repay.

Some of the expenses included expensive meals, trips, even purchases at an adult book store in Canada.

News Channel 3′s Wayne Carter is covering the trial and tweeting as it happens.

I am not sure why it hasn’t been brought up but it’s the Internal Revenue Service regulations that REQUIRE BUSINESS RECEIPTS. What the heck? A mayor that acts like that is an unusual request. It’s the law and EVERYBODY knows it! Get real!
