Suburban Schools And Current Schools Buildings Future?

Germantown and all the suburbs will need buildings to hold classes in and they want to keep the ones already in their communities.

Those buildings are the property of Shelby County Schools but we understand talks are getting serious again on how to resolve the issue.

  • THE BUILDINGS ARE NOT THE PROPERTY OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM!!!!!!! THEY ARE OWNED BY THE COUNTY – FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL STUDENTS, AND ARE ADMINISTERED BY THE SCHOOL SYSTEM CHARGED WITH EDUCATING STUDENTS IN THEIR ATTENDANCE ZONES – WHETHER IT WAS MCS (IN THE PAST), SCS, OR A MUNICIPAL DISTRICT! WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR FOLKS TO GET THAT?

  • way to go Billy and Kevin for putting students first (no reference to the organization that does nothing of the sort!) and recognizing that (1) we need to stop fighting each other and start competing with Nashville, St. Louis, etc. and 2) that the buildings were paid for and belong to ALL county taxpayers, including those of us in the suburban cities.
