(Memphis) Police say a teen used a car he stole from church in a break-in at a North Memphis charter school early Wednesday morning.

Police say 18-year-old Darrin Brown was caught in the act stealing computers and cell phones from Memphis Academy of Health Sciences and say the car he drove to get to the school was taken a day early from a church a few miles away.

Investigators say Brown tried to steal a church van from Golden Gate Cathedral on James Road, but apparently couldn’t get it started and instead took a Chevy Impala also on the lot.

The Impala was found parked right outside Memphis Academy of Health Sciences.

Brown is charged with theft of property and criminal attempted theft of property.

He is being held on $40,000 bond.
