(Memphis) To say J.P. Shelley was family man might be an understatement to those who knew him.
"He took care of our two children, 4 and 7. My son actually turned 7 today and his birthday party was this afternoon,” Shelly’s wife Beverly said.
J.P never made his son's party.
Friday morning, he was gunned down during a robbery in Hickory Hill.
Shelly says her husband of 19 years only worked part time.
He was renovating a house on Scottsdale Friday. Police say that's when two men approached him at gunpoint.
"He was more of a stay-a-home father who did some side work and that was exactly what he was doing today,” she said.
Now as she grieves the loss her loving husband and her kids learn they'll grow up without their dad, she makes this plea to the community for help:
"If you know anything please help us find the person who did this. you have ripped our family apart,” she said.
Police say the suspects drove away in a green car. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers.
If you would like to make a donation to his wife and kids, there is a family fund set up through Metropolitan Bank.
You can send the donation to Shelly Family Fund, Metropolitan Bank , 1661 Aaron Brenner Drive Memphis, TN 38120.

It’s sad to see this city ravaged by urban terrorists. A tax base diminishes in this ghetto on a daily basis.

I believe you’re right .

Not much chance for AC & Tony giving this family help. All Memphis needs is leadership.

probably just another group of uneducated urban youths that were neglected growing up……well, that’s what the minority leaders will say….I say they are another example of animals proving they are animals!!!

Some people work for a living and try to make the lives of their families better, and others take what others have worked for because they themselves have not evolved enough to become a real human being for whatever reason.
Hopefully someone knows who did this and will do the right thing. Prayers go out to the families affected.
