Five Arrested In Internet Child Porn Sting

(Memphis) An East Memphis man facing more than 200 counts involving child pornography made his first appearance in court Thursday.

Steven Davis is facing charges of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and child rape.

Today, a judge denied his request to reduce his $950,000 bond.

The Shelby County District Attorney says Davis could be spending a lot of time behind bars if convicted of the charges against him.

Police say they found 500 images of child porn on his computer and about half of them were of him and two young victims.

“On an A felony for example, with no prior felonies. 15 years with 100 percent just for the rape of a child,” said Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich.

Davis is one five people the Memphis Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force has busted in the last two weeks.

In all the cases, task force members went into chat rooms, solicited child porn and then were able to trace the images back to the offenders homes.

Police say studies show those who look at child pornography are or will eventually become a child molester and it’s their goal to get them off the streets.

Davis is scheduled to be back in court with an attorney next month.
